About Fares Halout
Hi, I’m Fares.
I grew up in Syria, a country affected by war and hardship. Life was tough, but I found peace in nature — going on bush walks and climbing rocks helped me escape, even just for a little while.
When I was 18, in the middle of all that chaos, I picked up a camera for the first time. Photography quickly became more than a hobby — it was a way for me to hold on to moments of beauty and hope in a dark time.
I started studying veterinary science, but the war changed everything. I switched to civil engineering and completed my degree. Later, I had to leave Syria and move to Lebanon, where I taught refugee children in camps. I didn’t just teach lessons — I shared hope.
Eventually, I found a new home in Australia and a fresh start.
For me, photography isn’t just about taking pictures — it’s a way to keep the light of hope alive. Through my work, I want to remind people that even in hard times, we all have strength, and we’re all connected through our shared courage and kindness.
Happiness despite the war

The best thing about them is that they will always be happy and playful no matter what.
